Re-Enact: Secondary – Eight Plays
What Are the Scripts About?
“‘Vote Yes or No: Vida Goldstein’ is very topical due to recent elections. Issue of conscription and witty personality of speaker Vida Goldstein. Once a person, now an electorate.
Much interest in the generic ‘Not Just a Refugee’ script which can be discussed and performed by various age and interest groups.
At a border post, refugees are waiting to cross. I.D. is required. Set between ‘Home’ and ‘Somewhere Else’.
And also in ‘Acting Parts of Speech’ a fun script for literacy groups of any age. Roles such as Conjunction who is a ‘joining’ kind of girl or Verb who can be a ‘doing’ kind of bloke.
Other scripts include curriculum -linked:
‘Water on Trial’ where water is in court, accused of being wasted.
‘Q.V.H.’ Melbourne ‘The Queen Victoria Hospital was the first Australian hospital set up for and staffed by women. Includes the REAL Dr Constance Stone.
And a fictional baby BOY, born in the maternity ward.
‘My Robotics Homework Problem’. A robot is a machine that gathers information about its environment (senses) and used that information (thinks) to follow instructions to do work (acts). But this is a messy teenage bedroom.
‘Anorexia: Body Rescue Kit’: Audio script about body image.
‘Bowling Them Over: Fashions in Cricket’ a play with alternative endings.
Reading aloud, acting, researching and problem-solving in a group are encouraged. For each plays there are additional activities and curriculum links.
Versatile scripts which have humour, provide different viewpoints and can be used several times with the same groups. Easy to read and perform in a classroom.
‘Re-Enact Primary’ can be used with younger students.
